Red Knife

So. Let me present you a knife I have made. Because KNIFE if nothing else is something that is always close to Finnish heart. (kekeke)
I have always wanted to get myself into metal works, especially just knife-making, so far I don't have had much possibilities to start it. Then I moved another side of the country and suddenly handcraft possibilities rise remarkably. And due to some strike of luck I found myself from a metalwork course where was also a half of local knife maker's society, including a double winner in Finland's knife-making championships. So let's say I got plenty of good help, advices and even materials. Not to forget that those old men are seriously some of coolest people I've ever met.
This is a Finnish style knife, blade is basic style, handle is more of own touch. As well as decorating of the sheath.

¤ Knife (handle included) is 17,8 cm.
¤ Blade is so said silver steel, high carbon steel with chrome and vanadium. It is forged, grinded, quenched and tempered by all rules of art (not in this order, though).
¤ Handle is maple wood, with brass front guard. Handle was grinded into its shape, then dyed red.
¤ Sheath is leather (ironically I don't know which animal it was), that is hand-sewn, decorated and dyed mahogany. There is a wooden part inside which is part of Finnish sheaths. Link is also leather (with neat braided shape that is made from one single piece), ring is brass.
¤ Time taken: Roughly 3 hours per week during three months. Plus some homework.
¤ This is my first knife ever. The next will be better.
